Who is Dan Whipple? What's his background?
...Some of our clients ask how I got into Investment Real Estate.
It happened like this . . .
In 1963, just out of grad school and the U.S. Air National Guard, I assumed the management (for 29 years as it turned out) of several family businesses in Memphis, Tennessee. These were small service businesses offering Personnel Recruiting, Temporary Help, Sales Training and Automated Voice Messaging services. Later we added a data processing and computer software firm.
After renting office space for our companies for many years, we decided in the late 1970's that we should invest in an office building for our space needs. We bought a vacant 26,000 square foot Telephone Company Exchange building in Memphis and retrofitted it for office use. I began the lease up of the residual space with my recently acquired real estate license. It had occurred to me that I would need a real estate license if I intended to lease up an office building and start a commercial real estate firm. Little did I know what this meant!
About two years later, we finally completed the lease up of the building. I learned mostly what NOT to do - but it was a great learning experience and created a strong desire to move into the commercial and investment real estate business.
Approximately three years after opening my commercial real estate and property management firm, we accepted a lease assignment for a national firm in Memphis to locate and lease 60,000 square feet of first generation office space. After about six months, we settled on a building for this client and nearly 6 months after that executed the lease. This lease assignment settled my direction.
I joined Crye-Leike in the Memphis Tennessee headquarters offices in May, 1992.
In 1993, the firm asked me to manage and rebuild the Business and Investment Real Estate Division of Crye-Leike. Starting with three agents in the Memphis office in late 1993, we have seen Crye-Leike Commercial grow from three to 16 top professional commercial and investment broker specialists in the Memphis branch. In addition we have opened new offices in Nashville, Chattanooga, Little Rock and Atlanta.
Helping investors find, buy and exchange investment real estate is what I enjoy doing! And, in the last few years, my wife and I have enjoyed the birth of three grandchildren! In all of this, we have seen God's leading and care each day.

About Eric Fuhrman
If "EX" could stand for "Extreme" I'd say that characterizes my past pretty well. "Extreme endeavors" has been apart of much of my collegiate and adult life. Let me explain. In 1994 I began working with the Air Land Emergency Resource Team (ALERT) a non-profit organization teaching police diving and underwater search and recovery. During that period we certified over 500 divers, recovered over 200 stolen vehicles, multiple weapons and about eight bodies. We trained guys from all over the world in underwater recovery, ice diving, mixed-gas diving (nitrox), subaquatic medicine just to name a few topics.
An important benefit of working in that environment was the training I received in other areas as well. After being certified as a private pilot, firefighter, high-angle rescue specialist and EMT-B I was invited out to the East Coast to join a cutting edge commercial construction firm.
While in Delaware at Hopkins Construction Company I was able to spearhead several marketing endeavors while working very closely with the President in the overall management of the organization. When I say "cutting edge" I mean "cutting edge". We were involved in the marketing and startup of new technologies, we organized, implemented and swept the County through our very-successful county political committee and we responded to many industrial emergencies with our equipment and resources. This exposure worked wonders for our company and allowed us to develop relationships which later turned into lasting clients.
With our three children in mind my wife and I began to see how important it is for grandchildren to spend time with Grandparents. Both sets of grandparents live in the Mid-South. So in late 2003 we began the process of moving to Memphis, Tennessee and in January 2004 joined the 10th largest real estate firm in the US, Crye-Leike REALTORS.
I work closely with investors from around the world on a daily basis and count it a privilege to work in a business that I love. It's a lot like treasure hunting. The strategic planning, preparation and anticipation is worth every minute when we are able to uncover the "gem". Marketing investment property for sale is even more exciting for me as we map out, create and implement a successful strategy to find the right buyer.
I am currently a candidate in the CCIM Institute and serve on two committees for our local board of REALTORS. My wife, three children and one on the way are reasons to ensure that I remain dedicated to your investment needs!
My kids are really enjoy fishing so you can generally find us near a pond somewhere in Tennessee when we have a free weekend. On a personal level my faith, my family, and my friends are the most important things to me.
With the launch of RealStreetEX we have also "launched" a new term for the marketing services we offer to our selling clients. The term is "high-profile" marketing. I believe it is our responsibility to maximize the exposure for our listed properties thus maximizing profits for our clients.
I am excited about each new client we meet as it gives us new opportunities to create a personalized plan based upon your specifics needs and goals.
Thank you for visiting our site. If you want to go SCUBA diving, flying, rock climbing or fishing, please give me a call and I'll also look forward to helping you buy or sell your next investment property.
